The Silent Emergency Call

Agency: Rosser

Description

As an entry for this years Eurobest Young Creatives Competion – the brief was given by Salvamento Marítimo Humanitario (SMH). An NGO that struggles to spread their message and recruit members, despite thousands of migrants risking – and often losing their lives crossing the Mediterranean Sea each year. It's crucial to raise awareness, increase membership, inspire solidarity and hope, and showcase that it's urgent to support their lifesaving mission.

The campaign transforms the nostalgic sound of the conch shell into The Silent Emergency Call, symbolising the silence of thousands of migrants lost in the Mediterranean Sea every year. By giving the sound of the ocean a new meaning, we create a powerful sensory connection that inspires lifesaving action. To become a virtual lifeguard with SMH.

Tourist beach installations with conch shells on pedestals will let visitors gain a new perspective on the nostalgic sound, now representing the silence of human lives lost at sea. Each includes a QR-code leading to SMH’s platform to encourage becoming a member and deeper engagement with their cause.

To amplify the call for action, we partner with immigrant athletes like Nico and Iñaki Williams, who know firsthand the importance of receiving the right help. They will introduce "The Conch" – a goal celebration simulating the sound of the ocean by putting one hand onto their ear. Their gesture sparks momentum and resonates with first- and second-generation immigrants, many of whom were once migrants themselves and understand the harsh realities. Broadcast on live TV, and social media, it spreads SMH’s message, turning The Silent Emergency Call into a powerful symbol of solidarity and hope.
